Question: What will happen to MusicXML as a result of this sale to MakeMusic?
Answer: MusicXML will continue to be licensed under the same open, royalty-free terms as before. MakeMusic will continue to support community development of future versions of the MusicXML format. The only significant change is that now MusicXML will have more resources behind it than ever, which will allow us to provide the music community with additional technology solutions.
Question: Is it possible that MusicXML will become proprietary?
Answer: No.
Question: What will happen to the MusicXML information on Recordare’s web site?
Answer: Recordare’s information about MusicXML will be moving to the MakeMusic web site. The sites might remain separate for a while after closing while we work on the web site integration.
Question: What will happen to the Dolet® plug-ins?
Answer: Upon closing, MakeMusic will provide the Dolet plug-in software at no charge.
Question: What will happen to the software that Recordare resells?
Answer: The software products in the Recordare Online Store will continue to be sold and supported by the respective software manufacturers. The Recordare Online Store will be shut down upon closing.
Question: Going forward, how will Michael Good’s role change?
Answer: Michael Good will join MakeMusic as the Director of Digital Sheet Music. He will report to Paul Carlson, Chief Technology officer, and he will be responsible for the creation of new technology solutions for interactive digital music notation. Michael will still be based in Silicon Valley, California.
Question: What about confidential information shared prior to the sale of Recordare?
Answer: Any confidential information that has been provided as a part of any correspondence or agreement with Recordare prior to the closing of the sale to MakeMusic will remain confidential and will not transfer to MakeMusic.
